Aesculus flavais naturally found in south-eastern USA growing along riverbanks or adjoining mountains in fertile moist deep loams. It prefers a sunny to semi shaded open position and is drought tender but frost tolerant.

Yellow Buckeye is grown for its flowers and autumn colour and is planted in streetscapes, parks and large gardens as a specimen for summer shade. It is also suitable for watercourse plantings and establishes in 2 to 3 years and is long lived. It is normally smaller under cultivation but needs room to grow. ID 1661

Note:
It is the most vigorous growing of the North American species and has bark that becomes furrowed with age. The timber is used as paper pulp.
