This suckering shrub has slender stems that turn reddish during winter and forms a bushy habit. It has dark green oval leaves that turn red-orange in autumn and the small star-shaped flowers have large white bracts and appear from spring to summer.

Cornus stoloniferais naturally found in eastern North America growing in moist to wet, moderately well drained fertile soils. It prefers a open sunny position and is drought tender but frost tolerant.
