This suckering shrub to small tree forms a narrow dense crown with drooping lower branches. The mid green leaves are oblong and turn yellow-orange to red during autumn and the star-shaped white flowers appear in a raceme during spring before the leaves.

Amelanchler canadensisis naturally found in eastern North America growing in grassy woodlands. It tolerates most well-drained fertile moist soils in an open sunny position and is frost tolerant but is drought tender.
