This semi-evergreen shrub has a bushy spreading habit with upright arching woody canes. The ovate glossy green leaves turn reddish during autumn and the funnel-shaped fragrant white flowers appear in terminal clusters from mid-summer to autumn.

It tolerates a wide range of well drained, moist fertile sandy to clay loams that are tending acidic with a pH 6.1-7.8 in a sunny to semi shaded open position and is drought and frost tolerant.
