This perennial succulent has upright foliage and forms clump. It has narrow fleshy purplish basal leaves or on short stemmed rosettes with each leaf covered in whitish dots and the funnel-shaped white flowers appear from spring to autumn on open racemes.

Haworthia rugosais naturally found in dryer parts of South Africa growing in stony well-drained soils with low fertility. It prefers a semi-shaded to full sun position with wind and frost protection but is drought tolerant.

This succulent perennial is grown for its colourful foliage and is commonly used in containers indoors and outdoors or planted in rockeries and succulent gardens. It establishes in 2 years from division requiring little care once established. ID 1470
