This deciduous tree forms a broad conical habit with a rough textured bark and spreading upright branches. The compound leaf has 5-lanced-shaped light green leaflets and the small yellow-green funnel-shaped flowers appear in clusters during spring.

The Ohio Buckeye is a small to large tree that is grown for its attractive habit and spring flowers. It is planted in large gardens or parks for shade or as a lawn specimen. It establishes in 3 to 5 years and is long lived. It is not commonly grown and may be difficult to obtain, but it is an excellent tree for a moist, sheltered position. ID 1423
