This large shrub to small tree has an upright-branched habit with deeply veined oblong glossy dark green leaves. The small white trunpet-shaped fragrantflowers appear in clusters along the branches during spring followed by oval purplish berries.

Coffea arabicais naturally found growing on the mountains in tropical East Africa preferring humus rich moist well drained slightly acid soils. It prefers a protected sunny position with some mid-day shade and is drought and frost tender.

Arabian Coffee is an attractive small tree that is grown as a curiosity plant in domestic gardens and commercially in plantations for its fruit.
