This terrestrial clumping fern has a short rhizome that is erect and produces a dense rounded habit. The variable mid-green triangular-shaped fronds may be broad or linear on the same plant. It is commonly found in moist protected positions and has a lace-like appearance.

Asplenium dimorphum is naturally found from Australia to Norfolk Island growing moist damp gullies. It prefers a well-drained, moist fertile sandy soils in a protected shaded position with wind, frost and drought protection.
