This rhizomatous perennial has rounded stems and flat tapering bright green leaves. The spikelets are arranged in clusters blooming during summer. It is an excellent plant for damp to wet soils.

Cladium procerumis naturally found in all states of Australia mainly along the coast in and around watercourses and lakes growing in poorly drained sandy soils. It prefers a open sunny position and is drought tender but frost resistant.
The Leafy Twig-rush is grown for its foliage and clumping habit. It is planted around watercourses and ponds as a barrier plant or for stabilising boggy soils. It is not commonly used in domestic gardens but may be used around a water feature or in containers. It establishes in 1 to 2 years. ID 1217
