This shrub has an upright to prostrate habit with spreading branchlets with greyish star-shaped hairs. It has small spoon-shaped shiny green leaves that are notched and the yellow saucer-shaped flowers appear from spring to summer.

The Grey Guinea-flower is a small colourful shrub that is grown in small to medium size gardens as a specimen plant or in low borders. It is also planted in native gardens or rockeries as a spill-over and ground cover. It establishes in 2 to 3 years and is hardy when established giving an excellent flower display during late winter.
