Anigozanthos manglesiiis naturally found in south-western Western Australia growing on the coast and in adjoining forests in sandy to limey well drained soils. It prefers a open sunny position and is drought tolerant and mildly frost resistant but dislikes wet soil.

The Mangles' Kangaroo Paw flower is the Western Australian floral emblem. It is mass planted in parks and gardens in beds or along borders. It is also planted in small gardens as a specimen for foliage contrast and flower colour. It may also be grown as a container plant and is used in the cut flower trade. It establishes from division in 1 to 2 years and may be difficult to grow in humid regions.ID 1191
