This annual herb forms an upright to scrambling habit with weak stems that have narrow leaves at the base. The mauve coloured tube shaped flowers appear in clusters towards the top of the plant from early spring to summer.

Lobelia dentatais naturally found on the east coast of Australia from Queensland to Victoria in woodlands and dry sclerophyll forests along the coastland tablelands.

It prefers a well drained sandy soil in a protected sunny to semi shaded position.

This rare annual is not commonly cultivated in domestic gardens but is grown by native enthusiasts. It is suitable for coastal regions and establishes in one season. It can be grown in native gardens as a specimen or in a bushland setting but may be difficult to obtain requiring a specialist nursery. ID 1140
