This small palm has a slender stem that are erect and solitary. The fern-like divided leaves are dark green and pendulous inflorescence produces green-yellow flowers from spring to summer.

It prefers a humus rich slightly acid moist soil in a semi-shaded to full sun protected position and is wind, frost and drought tender.
