This attractive shrub forms an upright spreading habit with stiff branching. It has grey-green narrow oblong leaves and the scarlet bottlebrush-like flowers appear in a spike towards the ends of the branches from spring to summer.

Kunzea baxteriis naturally found in south-western Western Australia growing along the coast amongst granite outcrops in well drained sandy soil. It prefers a open sunny position and is drought tolerant and mildly frost resistant.

This attractive flowering shrub is grown in small to medium size gardens as a filler or screen plant along borders or as a container plant. It is fast growing establishing in 2 to 3 years and attracts birds. This Western Australian species requires perfect drainage and has been successfully grown in sub-tropical regions. ID 1129
