This epiphytic bromeliaed forms a small clump with a rosette of foliage. It has shiny bright green strap-like purple-tipped leaves and the blue to white coloured tube-shaped flowers appear in a dense central cluster during summer and is accompanied by purplish bracts.

Neoregelia concentrica Is naturally found in south-eastern Brazil and is one of the largest species in the genus. It is epiphytic, growing in moist leaf mould and bark and requires bright indirect light to bring out the colour in the leaves. It needs wind, frost and drought protection preferring a humid environment.
This colourful Bromeliad is grown in containers or in tropical gardens as a specimen plant. It is also mass planting and around water features and is used as a glasshouse specimen in cold climates. It has a moderate growth rate establishing from division in 2 to 4 years. ID 1081
