This small shrub has twiggy-like stems that are ridged ending in a spine and forms an open rounded habit. It has small dark green heart-shaped leaves and the yellow-red pea-shaped flowers appear during spring at the base of the leaves.

Bossiaea obcordatais naturally found in Australia from Queensland to New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania growing on the coast and the adjoining tablelands.

It prefers a well drained moist sandy to light clay loams that are moderately fertile and grows in an open sunny position and is drought and frost tolerant.

The Spiny Bossiaea is grown for its flowers and is planted in small gardens or bushland settings as a specimen or in low borders. It is suitable for coastal or adjoining tableland regions establishing in 2 to 3 years. It is also used in rockeries or in containers tolerating a wide range of soils. ID 1077
