This tree forms a single or multiple slender stems with rough bark at the base and smooth grey-brown spreading branches that form an open crown. It has narrow dark glossy green lanced-shaped leaves and the cream flowers appear from summer to autumn.

Eucalyptus oleosa is naturally found in Australia from north-west Victoria to New South Wales and South Australia growing in well drained, fertile moist light soils. It prefers an open sunny position and is frost and drought resistant.
Giant Mallee is grown in parks and large gardens as a specimen or for shade. It is also used in bushland settings in groups and is bird attracting. It establishing in 3 to 5 years and the tree re-shoots and seeds germinate after low intensity fire. ID 1033
