This slow growing perennial produces a stem below ground level and has a tufted habit. It has long grass-like blue-green leaves that radiate from the crown and the small white star-shaped flower appear densely on a long spike up to 2m (6ft) from winter to summer.

Xanthorrhoea resiniferais naturally found in Australia on the east coast of Australia from New South Wales to Victoria occurring in wet coastal heathland.

It grows inswampy-sandy soilthat is tending acidic and prefers an open sunny position. It is drought tender and mildly frost resistant.

This Grass Tree is used in rockeries and garden beds as a specimen or as a container plant. Young plants will establish in 2 to 4 years forming a tufted leafy habit but no trunk will appear for many years. It is also planted in native gardens and mature plants are transplanted into commercial landscapes for an instant effect. ID 1011
