This small shrub has spreading woody stems that form a prostrate habit. It has dark green oblong leaves and the bright yellow wheel-shaped flowers appear just above the foliage from spring to summer.

Hibbertia vestita is naturally found on the east coast of Australia growing from the sandstone plateau for Rockhampton in Queensland to central-eastern New South Wales.

It prefers moderately fertile well drained sandy to clay loam with reliable moisture in an open sunny position and is frost and drought resistant.

The Guinea Flower is grown for its spreading habit and its bright yellow flowers. It is grown as a ground cover or spill-over anove rock walls or in a rockery. It is also planted in small gardens along front borders and as a container plant. In cool climates it is grown a glasshouse specimen plant and has a moderate growth rate establishing in 3 to 4 years.
