Eucalyptus cosmophyllais naturally found in Australia growing on Kangaroo Island and the adjoining coast to Mount Lofty in South Australia. It prefers a sandy moderately fertile slightly acidic soil in an open sunny position and is drought and frost resistant.

Bog Gum is an attractive small tree that is grown in coastal or inland gardens as a lawn specimen for shade and as a windbreak in exposed positions. It is also planted around water features or dams tolerating damp soils. It is fast growing and establishes in 1 to 2 years. The peeling bark and large flowers makes this an excellent feature tree.
