Bitou Bush is a hardy shrub that is grown for its foliage and salt tolerance. It is planted on sand dunes for stabilisation or as a wind break. It is also planted along borders as a screen or trimmed to form an informal hedge. It is commonly regarded as a weed and is controlled by physical removal of the plant and its taproot. ID 884
Note:
It was originally grown in Australia as a coastal stabilising plant from the 1940s to the 1960s in which time infested many coastal regions and became a major weed.
