This perennial climber has slender twinning woody stems with milky sap and forms a densely cover. It has greyish green lanced-shaped leaves and the creamy white bell-shaped flowers appear in a cluster in summer followed by pear-shaped fruit in autumn.

Araujia sericifolia is naturally found in South America growing in most well drained fertile moist sandy to clay soils in an open sunny position and is frost and drought tender.

The Moth Plant is not normally cultivated as a ornamental plant but can be grow on structures such as a pergola or trained along fences for screening. In warmer climates it is regarded as a weed and is controlled by bagging seed-heads or physical removing the plant and its roots. Chemicals such as glyphosate may be applied. ID 872
