It prefers a fertile well drained moist soil in an open sunny position and is drought and frost tolerant.

The Trumpet Creeper is grown for its dense foliage coverage and its reliable colourful flowers. It is planted against walls or trained over trellises and wire fences for screening. It is also used as a spill-over above retaining walls and responds to pruning to thicken up. It establishes in 1 to 2 years and is grown in patio pots and planter boxes. ID 852
