This mangrove tree has a stout greyish trunk with pneumatophoresand many spreading branches that form a broad crown. Ithas leathery dark green oblong leaves and fragrant white tube-shaped flowers appear in a cluster during spring.

Aegiceras corniculatumis naturally found on the east coast of Australia from Jervis Bay in New South Wales to Queensland and the Northern Territorycommonly found in mangroves or swamps. It also grows in Indonesia and Malaysia extending inland along large rivers growing in salt-water mud flats.
It grows in poorly drained rich soils that are subject to inundation from brackish water in a open sunny position and is drought and frost tender.
The River Mangrove tree is not normally grown for ornamental use but is found in mangroves along coastal waterways and plays a major part in a healthy environment.
