This large tree has a shaft-like trunk with persistent rough bark at the base and smooth cream-green spreading branches. It has pendant dark green narrow lanced-shaped leaves and the small white flowers appear in a cluster during early summer.

It prefers a well to poorly drained moist shallow gravelly loam in a open sunny position and is drought tender but frost resistant.

Badja Gum is a forest tree that is grown for its majestic growth habit. It is planted in parks and large gardens as a specimen or used in woodland settings. It is not normally used in domestic gardens as it grows too large. It has a moderate growth rate and establishes in 2 to 4 years and is long lived. This tree re-shoots after low intensity fire.
