Kunzea capitata is naturally found in Australia growing on the New South Wales coast in heath or open forests. It prefers a slightly acidic well-drained moist sandy soil in an open sunny position and is drought and mildly frost resistant.
Pink Kunzea is grown for its colourful flowers and bushy habit. It is planted along borders in small or native gardens or grown in rockeries and planter boxes. It is excellent for coastal regions and is used in rehabilitation programs. It tends to be a straggly shrub and responds to a light prune to thicken up or is mass planted. This short-lived shrub establishes in 2 to 3 years and there are white flowering forms available. ID 826
