This annual herb has short upright pubescent stems with grey-green linear leaves and forms a spreading habit. The yellow-centred white daisy-like papery flowers are held above the foliage on a tall stem and appear from spring to summer.

Polycalymma stuartiiis naturally found in Australia growing in the inland regions from the Northern Territory to Queensland, New South Wales and extending to Victoria and South Australia, appearing in mallee scrubland.

It prefers a moderately fertile well drained sandy soil in a open sunny position and is frost tender but drought tolerant.

The Poached Egg Daisy is grown for its flowers and is planted in parks and arid gardens as a specimen or is mass planted for bedding displays. It is also grown in pots and tubs, establishing in one season and is suitable for hot inland regions. ID 798
