This fast growing large deciduous tree has a straight trunk with sparse branching on the top that forms an open crown. It has dark green fern-like leaves and the golden-yellow pea-shaped flowers appear in a raceme during spring.

Schizolobium parahyba is naturally found in South America growing in Brazil in well drained deep rich loams with reliable moisture and ample organic matter in an open sunny position and is frost and drought tender.

The Yellow Jacaranda is grown for its tall habit and its flowers. It is planted in large gardens or parks as an emergent in gullies or as a lawn specimen. It is suitable for coastal regions and is grown in rainforest settings establishing in 2 to 4 years. It is not normally used in urban gardens and may be difficult to obtain.ID 791
