This tree has a short greyish trunk with spreading branches that form a dense narrow domed crown. It has leathery dark green lobed lanced-shaped leaves and the orange-red tube-shaped flowers appear in a rounded cluster during late spring.

Alloxylon flammeum is naturally found in Australiaon growing on the north-east coast in rainforests and in the ajoining mountains.

It prefers a deep well drained fertile moist soil that is organic rich in an open sunny position and is frost and drought tender.

The Tree Waratah is grown for its beautiful flowers and its domed habit. It is planted in parks and large gardens as a lawn specimen or used in rainforests settings. It has a medium growth rate and establishes in 3 to 5 years and is long lived. This tree will tolerate cooler regions and is used in gully plantings. ID 784
