This shrub has slender upright stiff stems that form a open to bushy habit. It has light green pubescent linear leaves and the nodding mauve cup-shaped flowers appear in a raceme during spring but may flower sporadically in summer.

Lysiosepalum involucratum is naturally found in Western Australia growing in very well drained fertile moist light soils in an open sunny position and is frost tolerant but drought tender.
This colourful plant is grown for its flowers and is planted in rockeries or small or cottage gardens for spring colour. It is also used as a container plant and mass planted along low borders. It is moderately fast growing and establishes from in 2 to 3 years requiring good drainage. ID 730
