Miscanthus sinensis is naturally found in Asia growing in well drained moderately fertile moist sandy stony soils in an open sunny position and is frost and drought tender.

Zebra Grass is grown for its weeping foliage. It is used as a low screen around swimming pools or planted in containers and as an informal hedge along borders. It is fast growing and establishes in one season and is suitable for coastal regions. In shaded areas the stems become weak and the cut flowers are used in dry flower arrangements.ID 718
