This genus of sun loving succulent perennials have a dense mat-forming habit. They have red to green rosettes of flattish broad leaves that may be covered in white web and the white, red, yellow or purple star-shaped flowers appear above the foliage in summer.

Sempervivum species are naturally found from Europe to Morocco and extending to western Asia growing from the coast to mountainous regions and tolerating a wide range of conditions.

They prefer a stony well drained moderately fertile soil in an open sunny position to semi shaded position and is frost, wind and drought tolerant.
