Huernia species are naturally found from South Africa to Ethiopia growing in arid areas in well drained, gritty light soils in an open sunny position and are frost tender but drought tolerant.
The Dragon Flowers are grown for their multiple stems and flowers. They are planted in small or succulent gardens as a specimen or commonly grown as a potted house plant and used in succulent collections. They are slow growing and establish in 3-4 years and should have watering reduced during winter. If temperatures fall below 11º C place the plants in a glasshouse or a protected area. ID 702
Note:
Care should be taken when watering as the plant rots easily in wet soils.
