This genus of succulent perennials form an inverse cone-like appearance that is made up of two fleshy leaves that have a translucent upper surface and are coloured, grey, brown to green. The white to yellow daisy-like flowers appear during late summer.

Lithops species are naturally found in Namibia growing amongst the rocks and pebbles in semi arid regions. They prefers a well drained gritty light soils in an open sunny position and are frost and drought tender.
Stone Plants are grown for their unusual appearance and flowers. They are planted in rock or arid gardens or used as a potted specimen. They are also planted in succulent gardens and in cold regions below 11º C they are grown as a hot house specimen. They are slow growing and establish in 3-5 years and under cultivation they should be kept dry. ID 697
