Taxodium mucronatum is naturally found in North America growing in Mexico and south-west Texas in moderately well drained deep fertile soils. It prefers a open sunny position and is frost resistant but drought tender.

The Mexican Bald Cypress is grown for its spreading crown and its foliage. It is planted in large gardens and parks as a lawn specimen or used in a moist position along river banks or as a windbreak. It is slow growing and may attain 4m (12ft) in 10 years but is long-lived. It is not suitable for the average domestic garden as it grows too large. ID 674

Note:
It is a long lived tree up to 1,000 years old and may form a trunk up to 9m (30ft) in diameter.
