Dracaena draco is naturally found in the Canary Islands from Tenerife and La Palma to Madeira and Cape Verde. It prefers a very well drained moderately fertile sandy soil in an open sunny position and is frost tender but drought and salt tolerant.
The Dragon's Blood Tree is grown for its foliage and rounded crown. It is planted in large gardens, parks or botanical collections as a specimen or used in seaside plantings. In cool climates it is grown under glass or conservatories and is slow growing and may not branch or flower for the first 30 years. It is also planted in patio planter boxes or around swimming pools for a tropical effect.ID 650
