This shrub has upright slender reddish-brown branched stems that form an open rounded crown. It has broad glossy dark green elliptical leaves and the green to yellow tube-shaped flowers appear from autumn to winter.

Correa bauerlenii is naturally found in Australia from Nowra in south-eastern New South Wales and extending to Victoria growing on the coast and the ajoining tablelands.
It prefers a semi shade to shade protected position and grows ina well drained moderatly fertile moist light soil and is frost and drought resistant.
The Chef's Hat Correa is grown for its bushy habit and flowers. It is planted in small or native gardens along borders or trimmed to form a low hedge. It is moderately fast growing and will establish in 2 to 3 years and is suitable for coastal regions. If grown under glass it requires good ventilation and a indirect well-lit position. ID 631
