This perennial has stout trunks with spreading foliage that forms a leafy habit. The drooping fleshy texture dull green elliptical leaves have parallel v-shaped cream and white markings and the small cream flowers appear in a spadix in midsummer.

Dieffenbachia amoena is naturally found in tropical America growing in well drained, organic rich moist soils in bright indirect light to a shaded protected humid position and is frost and drought tender.

Striped Dumb Cane is grown for its attractive foliage. It is planted in the understory in tropical gardens or more commonly used as a potted indoor specimen. It tolerates a low light position but dislikes draughts, large temperature changes and in cold climates it is grown under glass, establishing in 2-3 years.
