This perennial has stout trunks with spreading foliage that forms a leafy habit. The drooping fleshy texture dull green elliptical leaves have parallel v-shaped cream and white markings and the small cream flowers appear in a spadix in midsummer.

Striped Dumb Cane is grown for its attractive foliage. It is planted in the understory in tropical gardens or more commonly used as a potted indoor specimen. It tolerates a low light position but dislikes draughts, large temperature changes and in cold climates it is grown under glass, establishing in 2-3 years. Maintain humidity and re-pot over crowded plants and be careful not to over watering as this will cause rot. ID 627
