This perennial has a stout greenish trunk with spreading foliage that forms bushy habit. It has large dark green drooping elliptical leaves with some blotches and the flowers are arranged in a whitish spadix that appears during early summer.

Dieffenbachia seguine is naturally found in Central America growing in the understory of tropical forests in organic rich moist, but well drained soil. It prefers a wind protected semi shaded to bright indirect light position and is frost and drought tender.

Dumb Cane is grown for its attractive foliage. It is planted in the understory in tropical gardens or used around a water feature. It is commonly used as a potted indoor plant or grown as a hothouse specimen. It tolerates a low light position but dislikes draughts or large temperature changes and establishes in 1-2 years. Note:
When grown in a pot maintain humidity and re-pot over crowded plants. Care should be taken not to over water as this will cause the plant to collapse.
