This perennial succulent has creeping soft slender stems that that root at the nodes and forms a clump. It has mid green bead-like leaves that are arranged along the thin stems and the tiny creamy white flowers appear in summer.

Senecio rowleyanus is naturally found in South Africa growing in very well drained, fertile moist light soils in an open sunny position and is frost tender but drought tolerant.

The String of Beads is grown for its interesting foliage and pendulous habit. It is commonly grown in hanging baskets or used as a small spill-over in a rockery. It is also grown as a potted houseplant and requires ample light but little attention. It establishes in 2 to 3 years and is moderately long lived. This perennial is suitable for coastal regions and in cold climates is grown as a potted specimen under glass. ID 603
