This tree has a smooth greyish trunk with spreading branches that form a dense rounded crown. It has dark green lanced-shaped leaves and the sweetly scented cream flowers appear in a nodding cylindrical spike during summer.

Buckinghamia celsissima is naturally found in Australia growing in pockets of rainforest up to to 25 metres (70ft) tall in Queensland.
It prefers a deep organic rich, moist but well drained fertile soil in an open sunny position and is drought tolerant but frost tender.
The Ivory Curl Flower is grown for its foliage and abundant flowers. It is planted in parks and gardens as a lawn specimen or along borders fort screening. It is also used in rainforest settings or as a street tree. It cool climates the tree tends to grow smaller and establishes in 3-5 years at which point the flowers start to appear.
