This deciduous shrub has a short trunk with spreading branches that form a rounded bushy habit. It has bright green lanced-shaped leaves that turn yellow during autumn and the scarlet funnel-shaped flowers appear in late spring and followed by red fruit.

Pomegranate is grown for its bushy habit and attractive red fruit. It is planted in small or cottage gardens along borders as a specimen or in groups for screening. It can also be trimmed to form a hedge and is grown in tubs or planter boxes.
