Grevillea aquifolium is naturally found in Australia growing around The Grampians in western Victoria, appearing in a variety of habitats from wet to dry sclerophyll forest to heath or swamp land.

It grows in well to moderately drained sandy to gravelly loams or well drained clay and it tolerates limestone based soils. It prefers a hot dry summer in a sunny to semi shaded position and is frost tolerant but drought tender.

Holly-leaved Grevillea is grown for its flowers and bushy habit. It is planted in native or small gardens along borders and can be trimmed to form an informal hedge. It is also planted in rockeries or used in pots and tubs. It is suitable for coastal and has a fast growth rate establishing in 2 to 3 years. It tolerates a semi-shaded position but will produce fewer flowers and some forms avalable in the USA. ID 526
