This attractive large tree has an erect short trunk with scaly grey bark and spreading branches that form a compact rounded crown. It has divided leaves with glossy green leaflets and the small white saucer-shape flowers appear in a cluster during spring.

Flindersia australisis naturally found in Australia growing on the east coast from northern New South Wales to the central coast of Queensland, appearing in sub-tropical rainforest or in marginally drier inland positions.
It prefers a moist well-drained fertile deep soils in a protected to open sunny position and is frost and drought tender.

The trunk is up to 600mm (2ft) diameter and is brown, scaly shedding in flakes and revealing a light green layer beneath. The young shoots and inflorescences are covered in a fine pubescence.
