Eucalyptus cypellocarpais naturally found in Australia from southern New South Wales to eastern Victoria south of the alps. It is also found central and northern tablelands growing in tall open forests. It grows in a variety of soils but predominantly with a clay base and prefers a open sunny humid position and is frost and snow tolerant but drought tender.
The Mountain Grey Gum is not normally planted in domestic gardens and is suitable for parks and woodland settings. It is used in forestry or roadside plantings and the timber is used for heavy construction such as in bridges, fencing and for boat building. This tree has also been cut for pulp and is an important resource for the logging industry. It is fast growing and establishes in 3 to 7 years and is long lived maturing in 30 to 50 years. ID 514
