Cymbidium suaveis naturally found in Australia growing on the east coast of Queensland and New South Wales in open forests. It commonly appears on limbs of trees or stumps where their fleshy roots penetrate the host.

It is normally mulched in moist leaf mould and placed in bright indirect light to a shaded protected position with wind, frost and drought protection.

The Snake Orchid is grown for its flowers and its epiphytic habit. It is used in small and native gardens as a specimen or grown in a container or used around a water feature for a tropical effect. It is also used under trees on old logs or on the shaded side of buildings and establishes in 2 to 4 years from division but may be difficult to grow. In frost prone areas it requires protection and is cultivated in a bush-house. ID 509
