Agrimonia eupatoriais naturally found from Europe to western Asia growing in woodland margins or fields and in disturbed soils along roadsides.

It tolerates most well drained moderately fertile soils in an open sunny position and is drought and frost tolerant.

Cocklebur is a herbaceous perennial that is grown for its herbal use and is not commonly cultivated as an ornamental. It is grown in herb gardens and used as an anti-inflammatory, antibiotic and as a astringent due to its large quantities of tannin. It establishes in one season from division and tolerates a shaded position. It commonly grows wild in temperate climates and colonises disturbed soils. ID 497
