This tree has a twisted and gnarled trunk with white cream or pinkish bark that has scribble marks. It has speading branches with leathery dark green ovate leaves that form an open crown and the cream coloured flowers appear in a cluster during spring.

It prefers a well drained moderately fertile sandy to clay loam and tolerates saline soils in a sunny open position and is drought, salt laden wind and light frost resistant.
Scribbly Gum is grown for its attractive bark and foliage. It is planted in parks and large gardens as a lawn specimen for shade.
