Eucalyptus sideroxylonis naturally found in Australia from northern Victoria to the western slopes of New South Wales with pockets running up to southern Queensland growing in open countryside.

It prefers a well drained clay to gravilly loam in an open sunny position and is frost, drought and salt tolerant.

The Mugga Iron Bark is grown for its habit and distinctive bark. It is planted in large gardens, parks or in woodland settings singularly or in groups and is used as a windbreak. It establishes in 3 to 5 years and is suitable for inland regions. When young it is used as a shade tree attracting birds and is also used in honey production. ID 471

Note:
Care should be taken when planting as it has a vigorous root system, which can block drains or lift pathways.
