This large tree has a smooth trunk up to 1m (3ft) wide and becomes buttressed with age and the spreading branches form a dense rounded crown. It has glossy green pendant leaves and the fluffy white flowers appear in a cluster from spring to summer.

Syzygium luehmannii
isnaturally found in Australia growing on the east coast from New South Wales to northern Queensland close to the beaches. It prefers a well drained sandy soil and grows in a sunny to semi-shaded position tolerating light frost but is drought tender.

The Small Leafed Lillypilly is grown for its foliage and is planted in gardens or parks as a specimen for shade and is used in border planting for screening. It is also planted in rainforest settings establishing in 2 to 4 years and is long lived. Under cultivation the plant is trim to form a hedge or trained as a smaller tree and when young, it is grown in tubs or used as an indoor plant. ID 467

Under cultivation the tree rarely attains its full height only growing to 10m (30ft) tall.
